Border Force strike causes Christmas delay

There are some delays to Christmas mail delivery, with Australian Border Force workers taking part in union-backed industrial action as part of an ongoing pay dispute.

The Community and Public Sector Union-coordinated strikes have been implemented to disrupt and delay international cargo, freight and mail in the lead-up to Christmas, according to a Department of Immigration and Border Protection spokeswoman.

The CPSU has requested a 12 per cent pay rise for workers over three years, while the department is offering a six per cent increase over the same period.

The department has issued `no work no pay' notices to the Border Force workers taking part in the industrial action.
