Paperweight 'potential murder weapon'

A Perth court has been told a cast iron paperweight may have been used to kill body in the suitcase victim Annabelle Chen.

Detective Sam Collins agreed that police viewed the item as a potential murder weapon and said a search warrant to look for the large Chinese coin was conducted after information received from Tiffany Wan, who is accused of murdering her mother and dumping her body in a suitcase in the Swan River.

Ms Wan's father, Ah Ping Ban, is also on trial over Ms Chen's murder.

They both deny being the one responsible for her death, with each blaming the other.

Detective Sam Collins said the paperweight police were looking for was never found.

The court has previously been told Annabelle Chen suffered a skull fracture, but exactly who inflicted the fatal blow - or how - isn’t known.
