Barnett will lead Libs for 2017 election

Sixty is the new 50, says Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett, who stands firm in his plan to lead the Liberals into the 2017 state election.

Mr Barnett, who celebrated his 65th birthday on Wednesday, said if his government was re-elected, he would step down in the follow-up to the next election.

"That will be my last term in parliament," he told ABC radio on Thursday.
