Cyclone Veronica: Karratha man's live stream of his beer fridge goes viral

A Karratha man's hilarious live stream of Cyclone Veronica has gone viral thanks to his inclusion of a beer fridge cam, complete with a graph showing his dwindling supply in real time.

Shane Ryan originally hooked up his home security camera to Facebook Live as a way to keep his family and friends updated during the tropical cyclone.

But with most of the Pilbara on Red Alert since 6pm on Friday - confining residents to their homes - the 36-year-old decided to up the ante.

"I started the live stream on Saturday morning after getting multiple requests from family and friends asking about the cyclone," Mr Ryan told Nine.com.au.

"I decided to share a video feed from my security camera, but the view of my driveway and a few shrubs didn't do much to show the state of the cyclone. Out of boredom, I added a beer tally and then put a camera in my fridge to show the live view of my beer, which started at four cartons."

As well as the footage of his driveway and fridge cam, the feed also shows footage of his backyard and live vision of an up-to-date wind speed table from the Bureau of Meteorology.

The videos - which streamed in four-hour increments - have garnered over 50,000 views from curious Facebook users and thousands of shares.

One distressed viewer commented, "FYI, He is down to just a couple beers and we are still on red alert. We NEED a care package!!!"
