A Perth man accused of murdering his ill wife has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

A coronial inquest was held to investigate if neglect was a factor in her death and the matter was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who charged Devine with wilful murder.

But on Wednesday, Devine pleaded guilty in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court to manslaughter.

He is due back in court on August 12.
