WA hospital patient charged over drugs

A patient in a Perth hospital has been charged with a raft of offences after police allegedly found a total of 147g of methylamphetamine and 1000ml of gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) in his room and home.

Police executed a search warrant at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on February 12 where they allegedly found and seized 18g of methylamphetamine and $38,740 cash.

On Tuesday, police searched the 32-year-old man's home and allegedly found more methylamphetamine as well as ephedrine, pseudoephedrine tablets, cannabis, GHB, a firearm, ammunition and other drug related items.

The man has been charged with four counts of possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, and two counts of an unlicensed person possessing a firearm/ammunition.

He has also been charged with possessing an unlicensed firearm carried with drugs and/or cash, possessing a prohibited weapon which was a flick knife and unlawful possession of cash.

The accused man appeared in Armadale Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was refused bail.

He is due back in court on March 18.
