WA government slashes 1500 public sector jobs

Western Australian premier Colin Barnett has announced public sector cuts.
About 1500 jobs will be slashed from Western Australia's public sector in a bid to tackle the state's slowing economy.
Premier Colin Barnett said voluntary redundancies would be offered and he expected a high take-up.

The government said there would also be cuts to non-essential spending.
