The West Australian Government is offering grants to help halve the number of suicides over the next decade.

Grants of up to $20,000 are available for local government and not-for-profit organisations to undertake evidence-based training focused on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention, Mental Health Minister Helen Morton said.

The grants are the first round of $2.5 million for suicide prevention over the next four years, with suicide the leading cause of death for 15 to 44-year-olds in Australia and one death a day in Western Australia.
