The father of a teenager found dead on the side of a central Queensland road is appealing for the public's help to find out what happened to his son.

Kurtis West, 18, was found on the Jambin-Dakenba Road, near Biloela, by a driver early on Friday morning.

Mr West had been involved in a scuffle at a local pub in the hours leading up to his death and there had been speculation that the fight could be linked to his death.

But police later said a post-mortem examination revealed violence was not a factor in his death.

His father Kelvin West said he wanted answers and hoped witnesses would come forward.

"He was so energetic and would help anybody out," the grieving dad told reporters in Rockhampton.

"He wanted to help and wanted to live.

"He was so young to be taken."

Police are still determining Kurtis West's cause of death.
