Video shows boy thrown onto Sydney train tracks

Video has emerged of a young boy being thrown onto Sydney's rail tracks, stirring up debate about the safety of the city's metropolitan train stations.

Footage recorded by a bystander and shared on Facebook yesterday shows two high-school age children brawling on the Marrickville station platform.

One boy is seen grabbing the other by the collar of his navy school uniform and sending him tumbling over the gap, as onlookers let out a panicked cry.

The aggressor and another friend extend their hand to the boy, but he declines their help and is instead helped back onto the platform by another rider, who rushed to his aid.

"Stay away … go!" the cameraman is overheard saying to the pair.

One boy, whose role in the fight is not clear, argues that the victim struck him first but walks away at the insistence of others.
