Police across Victoria are on the hunt for a Christmas grinch accused of stealing liquor and a dozen hams.

Shepparton police are searching for a man caught on CCTV who walked into the Coles supermarket at Riverside Plaza in Kialla, near Shepparton, at about 4.30pm on November 12.

In what police have called a "hambitious move", he placed a dozen hams into a trolley and "legged it" out of the store.

He was last seen driving away with the purloined pork in a white Ford sedan with South Australian number plates.

Police in Bendigo and Echuca are also on the hunt for the ham-loving thief in relation to the theft of liquor.

The crackling crook is described as Caucasian, bald and aged in his 40s. On each occasion he was wearing a dark-coloured top and dark-coloured pants.

Anyone who recognises the ham-fisted thief is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
