Victorian MP dumped by premier vows to return to front bench

A Victorian MP stripped of his portfolio by Premier Daniel Andrews following bullying accusations by his own staff has vowed to return to the front bench.

Adem Somyurek has avoided parliament and the spotlight since he was sensationally dumped by Mr Andrews, with colleagues claiming he has been too sick.

Today the four-term MP initially told 9NEWS he had "no comment", but moments later decided to address the bullying accusations head-on.

"Absolutely I'll be fighting the allegations, they are simply not true, they are baseless," he said.

Mr Somyurek was stood down as Small Business Minister two weeks ago following a formal complaint from his then-Chief of Staff Dimity Paul.

According to the Premier, Ms Paul alleged the MP was threatening and intimidating to her and other members of his own staff.

Mr Somyurek's absence has left Labor one vote behind the Coalition in the upper house.

Meanwhile, an investigation is being run out of the Department of Premier and Cabinet that will report back to the government on all of the alleged incidents.

Mr Andrews has been accused of double standards for allowing Upper House Whip Cesar Melham to keep his job while facing allegations of possible corruption at the Royal Commission into Trade Unions.
