Man faces court charged with murder of motorcyclist in Maddingley

A man accused of murdering a 24-year-old motorcyclist in Maddingley has appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates' Court this morning.
Damien Russell Janson, 31, was charged with murder after Jake Smith was allegedly struck by a ute while driving his motorcycle on Woolpack road on May 20.

Police say the male driver of the ute, a 36-year-old Dandenong man, stopped a short time later.
He and one of his passengers, a 28-year-old Pentland Hills man, stayed at the scene while Mr Janson allegedly left on foot.

The Pentland Hills man is facing one count of murder and did not make an application for bail in court this morning.
Mr Janson was remanded in custody and will face court again for a committal mention in October.
