A Victorian man who was arrested during a drug raid has proposed to his sweetheart outside court after he was released on a community corrections order.

A video of father-of-nine Mahmoud El-Zayat going down on one knee to propose to partner Claudette Tannous outside Wodonga Magistrates Court was posted to the couple’s joint Facebook page.

“See this man right here? Man I would take a bullet straight to my heart for him. I would kill for him,” reads a caption penned by Tannous.

“Ps. Yes I will be your wife for the rest of my life.”

El-Zayat, 43, and Tannous, 22, were arrested at a Wodonga motel in July after police found over 100 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, cash and a homemade gun.

El-Zayat, who spent 50 days on remand, pleaded guilty to trafficking ice, and possessing guns and a prohibited weapon, Fairfax Media reports. He was released on a 12-month community corrections order on Monday.

Tannous served three months in jail after pleading guilty to trafficking ice and possessing drugs in August.
