Melbourne is bracing for a night of heavy storms as wild winds and hail hammer parts of Victoria.
Just before 6pm the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for all districts, with damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall possibly leading to flash flooding.

Heavy rain has already fallen in the west of the state with drivers forced off the road due to poor visibility and large hail stones.
Closer to Melbourne, winds of up to 80km/h have been recorded in St Kilda.
More than 40,000 lightning strikes have already been recorded across the state, with the Country Fire Authority fearing further strikes could spark fires following the recent hot and dry weather.
