Woman struck and killed by car in Melbourne's east

A woman has been struck and killed in Melbourne’s east as she was crossing a road.

The pedestrian, aged in her 40s, was walking across the road at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Station Street in Mitcham about midday, Victoria Police said.

She was struck by a car and died at the scene.

A 30-year-old Prahran man driving the car stopped at the scene and is helping police.
