Two women have died in separate car crashes in regional Victoria.

A passer-by found a woman's body inside a crashed vehicle near Ouyen, on Monday morning.

Investigators believe the woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which veered off the road and hit a tree sometime over the Easter long weekend.

The other fatal crash occurred on the South Gippsland Hwy at Lang Lang, about 9.30am.

A car attempted to overtake on a bend, and ran head-on into an oncoming vehicle.

The woman who died was a passenger in the oncoming vehicle.

The male driver of the oncoming car suffered life-threatening injuries.

A female driver, the only person in the overtaking car, was also seriously injured.

The survivors were airlifted to hospital.

The deaths bring Victoria's Easter road toll to three and the national Easter road toll to 18.
