A woman has been indecently assaulted after her phone was stolen in Melbourne.

The woman told police she was at a shopping centre in Broadmeadows on the evening of June 8 when she left her mobile phone momentarily unattended at a kiosk, with a man running off it.

She made contact with the man who demanded money for the phone. She agreed to meet the man in Pascoe Vale South, where he indecently assaulted her and fled with both the cash and phone.

Police have released images and CCTV vision of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is perceived as being of southern European appearance, about 30 years of age and approximately 170-175cm tall with a stock build, dark shaved hair and a beard and moustache.

The man was wearing a black hooded top with a white snake motif on the front and back, olive green pants and black runners.
