Woman dies in Vic two-car smash

A 76-year-old woman has died following a two-car collision in Melbourne.

The Ferntree Gully woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars, died at the scene in Knoxfield, southeast Melbourne about 1pm.

The 70-year-old female driver suffered minor injuries while the male driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

The woman's death takes the Victorian road toll for this year to 77.
