Woman fighting for life after falling from horse at Caulfield

A female track rider has been critically injured after falling from a horse at a Melbourne race track.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was knocked unconscious and suffered serious head injuries in the accident at Caulfield on Monday morning.

A Melbourne Racing Club spokeswoman says the woman is a track rider who had been exercising horses.

Paramedics were called about 7am (AEDT) to treat another woman who had been kicked by a horse.

While they were at the track, they were told another woman had fallen from a horse.

The woman was stabilised before being taken to the Alfred Hospital.

She remains in a critical but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman told AAP.

Another ambulance assisted the woman who was kicked, also aged in her 20s, and she was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
