10am Monday - A man found in critical condition following a stabbing in Seaford in Melbourne's southeast

5.30pm - Police go to a Frankston home to question a 46-year-old man about the stabbing after a tip-off. He confronts officers with a knife and retreats inside the Dandenong Road East house. Police cordon off the area

2.30am Tuesday - The armed man continues to hold police at bay with three women and another man hostage inside the house. Police believe the stand-off can be resolved peacefully

3am - During negotiations the man reportedly demands the drug ice

6.30am - A number of specialist police vans arrive

7.20am - The man allegedly begins stabbing a woman in the leg. Up to a dozen shots are fired as Special Operations Group officers storm the home

7.30am - A man covered in blood is wheeled out on a stretcher and taken to The Alfred. A woman with lower leg injuries is taken to Frankstown hospital in a stable condition.
