West Gate Freeway: Delays easing after car crash and diesel spill

Powered by

Traffic on Melbourne’s West Gate Freeway at Altona North is returning to normal after an earlier crash.

A truck and car collided on the highway at Millers Road at about 2pm, with a resulting diesel spill forcing the closure of all outbound lanes.

Two lanes have since reopened.

Drivers continue to be advised to find an alternative route as the clean-up continues.

“Consider public transport, if at all possible,” VicRoads said in a statement.

A woman aged in her 40s was taken to Footscray Hospital after the collision, sustaining minor injuries, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson told 9News.

She is in a stable condition.

Police remain at the scene.
