Search for WA fisherman suspended
The search for a fisherman missing for almost two weeks off the West Australian coast has been suspended after authorities found his boat washed up on a beach.
Jeffrey Doyle, 61, has not been seen since he left on an overnight fishing trip from Bunbury Yacht Club on October 17.
His boat, Obsession 2, was found almost 400km north on a beach between Lancelin and Cervantes on Saturday.
A land and air search of the area near where the vessel was found, about three kilometres south of Grey Settlement, continued until last light on Saturday.
Police said on Sunday there was no evidence Mr Doyle made it to shore.
"The vessel has been forensically examined and no suspicious circumstances identified," a spokeswoman said.
Forensic officers and the water police will continue their examination of the vessel but the search for Mr Doyle has been suspended pending further information.
