Aboriginal women are 34 times more likely to be hospitalised and 10 times more likely to die from a violent assault than non-Aboriginal women.

An Aboriginal family violence service that provided the statistics says assaults among Aboriginal families have tripled in recent years.

The Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria on Tuesday received a $600,000 funding boost from the Victorian government to help with the problem, but is urging state and federal governments to do more.
