Controversial former Liberal MP Geoff Shaw to run for United Australia Party in Victorian election
Controversial former Liberal MP Geoff Shaw will attempt to re-start his political career with Clive Palmer's United Australia Party (UAP) at November's state election.
The announcement was made in Melbourne today after the party was officially registered by the state electoral commission.
Eight years after losing his seat, Shaw said he was optimistic about his chances of returning to Spring Street.

"Simply, I'm standing because I'm fed up with Dan Andrews like a lot of Victorians," Shaw said.
Shaw served as Frankston MP from 2010-2014 and was forced to resign from the Liberal Party by former premier Ted Baillieu.
Victoria was the only place the UAP won enough support to get a candidate into federal parliament in May's election.
Palmer said he was confident that same support will be enough for a strong showing at next month's poll.
