Victorian man arrested after fatal crash

A driver who fled a fatal crash that killed his passenger in Victoria has been arrested and is under police guard in hospital.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning following a crash at Phillip Island on Monday in which a 28-year-old man died at the scene.
Police say the car lost control at an intersection in Cowes at about 5.50am and struck a tree before the driver went on the run, leaving his passenger.

The arrested Burwood man is expected to be interviewed by police after being treated at hospital.
