A Victorian actor who has appeared in popular television shows like Neighbours admits he committed indecent acts with boys, including some more than a decade ago.

Jeremy Kewley fronted the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday and formally pleaded guilty to about 20 offences, including indecent acts with a child under 16, indecent assault and making and possessing child pornography.

The Cheltenham man, who is on bail, has appeared on TV shows such as Underbelly and Stingers.

Most of the indecent acts he committed happened around Melbourne in June and July 2011, but some date back to 2002.

The indecent assaults happened in 1989 and 1991.

He was initially facing 131 charges, but many were dropped and changed before he entered his plea.

Kewley, 55, is due to come before the County Court of Victoria in March.

He did not comment when he left court.
