LEADER MICHAEL O'BRIEN

* Born August 5, 1971, Dublin

* Married with two children

* Worked as a lawyer including as legal counsel and senior advisor for federal Howard government treasurer Peter Costello

* Was elected to Malvern in 2006

* Served as treasurer in 2013 and 2014, after being energy and resources, consumer affair and gaming minister from 2010

* Spent the past four years as shadow treasurer

DEPUTY LEADER CINDY MCLEISH

* Born April 26, 1962, Yea (northeast of Melbourne)

* Partnered with one child

* Born and raised on a cattle and sheep farm and continues to farm at Yea

* Registered as a psychologist, worked as a secondary school maths and science teacher, completed an MBA and worked for a consultancy firm in organisational effectiveness and leadership

* Elected as member for Seymour in 2010, then became inaugural Eildon MP in 2014

* One of just three Liberal women to be elected to the lower house in 2018
