VICTORIA'S BUDGET BILLIONS
VIC BUDGET PLEDGES SO FAR:
* $1.5 billion for planning the Melbourne Metro Rail
* $1.3 billion for widening the Tullamarine Freeway
* $2 billion over 10 years for new trains and trams
* $11.5 million to upgrade country police radios
* $55.4 million for Victorian State Library upgrades
* $25 million for dealing with youth radicalisation
* $80 million to attract new major events
* $5 million to crack down on illegal puppy farms
* $8.1 million for new video conferencing at court
* $900,000 for security cameras for women at risk of family violence
PROMISES:
* $3.3 billion in new recurrent expenditure
* $6.78 billion in capital works
* Removal of 20 level crossings in Labor's first four-year term
* $510 million to rebuild government schools
* $320 million to help TAFEs
* $15.5 million for school uniforms
* $13.5 million for school breakfast clubs
* 400 custody officers to oversee police cells
PROPOSED SURPLUS:
* $1.2 billion in 2015/16
* $1.4 billion in 2016/17
* $1.4 billion in 2017/18
* $1.8 billion in 2018/19
PROPOSED SAVINGS:
* $334 million in savings over four years
* $279 million from foreign homebuyers over four years
* $52.2 million from a land tax surcharge
* Cuts to taxpayer funded advertising
* $40 million saved cutting executive officers in public service
* $29.6 million saved in reduced use of labour hire firms.
