Kangaroo caught having a dip in Melbourne pool

A kangaroo has been making itself very comfortable, lounging in a pool in Melbourne’s north-east.

For the last four to six weeks, Jen Harlow and her family have seen this particular kangaroo spending time near their fenced off pool area in Wonga Park.

But returning from shopping about 11am today, Ms Harlow found a rather unusual sight.

The animal had taken a dip to beat the heat.

Tall enough to stand comfortably in the shallow end of the pool, Ms Harlow tried to bounce the 70kg kangaroo from the pool with a leaf scoop but didn’t have much luck.

She contacted wildlife professionals who tried to coax the roo out with a ladder.

It was eventually sedated and removed from the pool with the help of four people before being loaded into a car.
