Vic woman rescued as house washed away

A woman has been rescued after her house washed away during flash flooding in Victoria's Alpine region.

The woman, who wasn't injured, had to be rescued after flash flooding caused a land slip on the Great Alpine Road at Ovens, police say.

The area was hit by more than 50mm of rain and the damaged house had recently been cleared of vegetation making it vulnerable to a land slip.

The State Emergency Service responded to around 100 calls for help as the storm cell passed across the state, with trees brought down and damage to buildings mostly in the northeast.
