A woman accused of fatally running over her partner in a suspected domestic violence dispute has appeared in a Melbourne court with a black eye.

Jessie Donker, 29, faced the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with murdering Richard Powell in a Sunbury car park on Sunday.

Police say Mr Powell, 32, was hit by a car about 6am in the car park on Stewarts Lane.

Donker was charged with his murder at an out-of-sessions hearing on Sunday evening.

In court on Monday, Donker did not apply for bail and was remanded into custody until her next court appearance in June.

Her lawyer said Donker has been diagnosed as bipolar, and it is her first time in custody.
