Victoria has put its hand up for ship and vehicle manufacturing jobs out of the Defence White Paper, which will see the federal government boost defence spending by almost $30 billion over the next decade.
Victorian Industry Minister Lily D'Ambrosio wants the commonwealth to award contracts in Victoria to support local manufacturing.
"What Malcolm Turnbull needs to do is ensure Victoria gets its fair share of work that comes out of this white paper," Ms D'Ambrosio told reporters on Thursday ahead of the white paper's release in Canberra.
