Melbourne trio in court after police raid

Two men have faced court after a squat-house raid by Melbourne police in which they were stung for a swag of alleged drugs, weapons and theft offences.

Three other residents also taken into custody were still to have their matters heard on Saturday.

Police say they forced entry to the St Albans property about 10.35 on Friday and found Van Nguyen, 23, in a rear shed.

He was flagged for two outstanding warrants - one alleging he was spotted trespassing on an Albanvale roof before being found with heroin, and the other where he was accused of eating a $39 meal at a Footscray restaurant and not paying, while carrying a multi-tool with an axe head.

He was convicted on Saturday and fined $3000.

Another man, 62-year-old Van Tran, also appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court in connection with the St Albans raid.

He was granted bail after being charged with trafficking and possessing the drug ice, possessing heroin, possessing and trafficking buprenorphine, possessing four samurai swords and a dagger, possessing counterfeit money and dealing with proceeds of crime.

Chi Pham, 46, refused to appear in the same court.

He is charged with giving a false name to police, possessing and trafficking heroin, possessing the opioid ms contin, stealing a $17.50 razor, attempted burglary, attempted theft and trespassing.

Two other people also arrested during the execution of the St Albans warrant were expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court later on Saturday.

The court was told the premises in question was a "squat house" with those arrested aged between 23 and 62.

The matter will next be heard at Sunshine Magistrates Court on January 11.
