Vic town on alert over chemical gas leak

Hazardous fumes are leaking from silos in a Victorian town, prompting a warning for residents to remain indoors.

The CFA has issued a "watch and act" warning for people in the vicinity of Waterloo Road in Trafalgar, after hotspots and chemical fumes were detected in silos on a property.

A CFA spokeswoman said a chemical specialist is on site investigating the leak and Waterloo Road is closed to all traffic.
