Vic stabbing accused caused crash: court
A young man accused of stabbing another man in Melbourne ended up causing a car accident while attempting to evade police, a court has heard.
Kenneth "Kenny" Scarlett, 21, has been charged with stabbing a 24-year-old man in the abdomen after the victim had tried to help a woman Scarlett was allegedly assaulting on Yarra Promenade on Friday.
The court heard Scarlett, who did not apply for bail, suffers from ADHD and is withdrawing from drugs.
Scarlett was arrested on Monday in Greensborough after attempting to evade police and causing an accident in the process, the court was told.
Prosecutors have asked for 10 weeks to prepare material and access CCTV footage before the case proceeds.
Scarlett was remanded in custody and will reappear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 20.
