Victorians affected by the bushfires will have access to a recovery package that is set to reach $86 million.

The Victorian government announced on Wednesday an extension of $75,000 grants to farmers looking to get back to work in 15 regional areas including East Gippsland.

Another five programs totalling $86 million will also be rolled out while local recovery committees are formed.

This Bushfires Community Recovery Package will aim to help bushfire affected communities setting up mental health services and local council plans, create hubs to take services to remote areas, support community engagement and rebuild infrastructures.

"We want a locally-led recovery, not a Canberra-led recovery," federal Natural Disaster and Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud said.

"The recovery will take some time, which is why the repairs need to start now."

The minister said a package for small businesses will also be announced soon.

The Victorian Bushfires Community Recovery Package will be jointly funded under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
