The son of a Melbourne reality TV star has avoided jail for stalking after he publicly humiliated a young woman in an attack a magistrate has described as "vicious and cowardly".

Melbourne Magistrate Andrew Capell told Lorenzo Schiavello, 20, if it wasn't for his lack of prior convictions and borderline personality disorder, he would have jailed him, instead he imposed an 18-month community corrections order.

Schiavello, the son of Real Housewives of Melbourne star Lydia Schiavello, was ordered to perform community service and undergo a mental health assessment and treatment after he posted nude photos of a woman on social media without her permission.
