Vic prisons to share info on extremists

Information on extremists in Victoria's prison system will be shared with anti-terror police in a bid to prevent terror attacks.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by Corrections Commissioner Emma Cassar and Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner Ian McCartney on Monday to formalise information sharing between the agencies.

It's been prompted by recommendations from an inquiry into the Brighton siege in June 2017, in which Yacqub Khayre killed a receptionist and wounded three police officers.
