Vic cabinet meets after minister suspended

Victorian government ministers are meeting for the first time since Small Business Minister Adem Somyurek was stood down pending an investigation into allegations he threatened and intimidated his staff.

Premier Daniel Andrews suspended Mr Somyurek on Saturday after the minister's chief of staff lodged a complaint about his behaviour.

She has alleged a pattern of intimidation, aggression and threats from Mr Somyurek against her and other staff.

Mr Somyurek has rejected the claims as "baseless and untrue" and has welcomed a review by the secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet as an opportunity to clear his name.

Mr Andrews will address government ministers at Monday morning's cabinet meeting.

Most government ministers used an undercover car park as they arrived for the meeting, avoiding waiting media.

Sport Minister John Eren said he had nothing to add to the premier's comments on the matter as he entered parliament.

"There's an investigation underway, obviously we will have to wait for the outcome of that," Mr Eren told 3AW radio.

Mr Somyurek's portfolios - small business, innovation and trade - will be handled by Mr Andrews in the meantime.

Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said Mr Andrews should have acted faster on the complaint, which was made two days before the premier spoke to Mr Somyurek.
