Vic Premier sledges Sydney 18 times

Nightlife, medicinal marijuana and the Sex Party - Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is either planning a good night out or sledging Sydney.

The Labor premier took to Buzzfeed to post 18 Simple Reasons Why Melbourne Is Better Than Sydney on Thursday, ranging from the serious to the ridiculous.

"We've guaranteed Safe Schools will stay in Victoria" was number two, while "NSW Parliament has Fred Nile. Victorian Parliament has the Sex Party" was number 10.

The premier took aim at Sydney's lockout laws, and promised to be the first state to legalise medicinal marijuana.

He also potentially angered yacht owners.

"The Sydney to Hobart yacht race completely skips Melbourne which is fine with us because the whole thing is quite boring," the premier said.

His final sledge was a parting shot at the former prime minister, who was especially unpopular in Victoria.

"Tony Abbott lives in Sydney. Period."
