Complaints to Victoria's Energy and Water Ombudsman have dropped 40 per cent as retailers fix their billing systems.
The Ombudsman had 50,437 cases in 2014-15 - down 40 per cent from the previous year - as complaints about high bills dropped 47 per cent.
"The overall 40 per cent fall in cases represents a major turnaround from 18 months ago, when we were dealing with thousands more billing cases," Ombudsman Cynthia Gebert said on Wednesday.
