A Victorian gaming machine supervisor has been put on a good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to gambling after hours on a machine he was in charge of.

The man this week pleaded guilty in the Wangaratta Magistrates' Court to after-hours gambling, according to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation.

The court was told the man was working at the Alpine Shire venue until 11.30pm on October 6, 2015 after it closed to the public at 11pm.

At 11.15pm he put $3 in the gaming machine and won $250 in credits.

He went on to hit the gambling button five more times, wining $8230 in credits.

He then pressed the machine's "collect" button and made arrangements for the win to be wiped from the machine before locking up the venue, the VCGLR said.

The next morning, the man reported his win to the general manager, who alerted the commission.

No winnings were paid to the supervisor and the money will be forfeited from the venue to the state's consolidated fund.

The man entered a guilty plea on Monday but no conviction was recorded.

He was put on a 12-month good behaviour bond, and ordered to pay prosecution costs of $300 and donate $650 to a charity.
