Vic MP calls for super fraud investigation

A Victorian traffic management company has been accused of failing to pay its workers superannuation.

Member for Kew Andrew McIntosh used parliamentary privilege on Wednesday night to call for an investigation into road works company Global Traffic Management (GTM) over missing entitlements.

He said he had been contacted by several employees of the firm which is continuing to trade despite currently being under administration.

Mr McIntosh said the employees payslips appeared to be in order but when a worker called his nominated super company he was told they had no knowledge of the payments.

"When he spoke to a particular superannuation company that was supposed to be having those deductions paid to him he was told they did not know, `we hold no such super funds' and `there must be some mistake'," Mr McIntosh told Victorian parliament on Wednesday night.

He said similar complaints had been made by 15 other employees of GTM.

"When contacted by the employee, they were effectively told that they did not exist or it was a mistake or there had been some unfortunate error."

Mr McIntosh said because those super funds did not appear to exist this could only amount to a simple fraud.

"This can be investigated by Victoria Police," Mr McIntosh said.
