Vic man unconscious after electric shock

A man has been found unconscious on a Melbourne nature strip after suffering a suspected electric shock before his house caught fire.

The man was found outside a house in Ardeer, in the city's west, which was well alight when fire crews arrived on Monday night, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade says.

Firefighters performed emergency first aid before an ambulance arrived and took the man to Sunshine Hospital.

The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes and caused an estimated $200,000 damage to the house.
