Vic driver freed after crashing off cliff

A man who dragging himself from the wreck of his car after plunging 100 metres off a cliff has been rescued by emergency services.

The man aged in his 40s drove off the cliff at Toora, in the South Gippsland region, late on Wednesday night.

The driver passed out after pulling himself from the car, which landed about 100m down a gully off Silcocks Hill Road, but called triple zero shortly after 8am on Thursday.

Emergency services managed to reach the man after an operation that lasted several hours because of his position and the angle of the car above him.

He was taken to hospital.
