Vic man in court over axe threat

A Melbourne man has been remanded in custody after allegedly threatening to kill his partner with an axe.

Ross Evans, 34, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with 23 offences, including making threats to kill and assaulting his on-again-off-gain partner.

"The accused got an axe from outside the house, stood outside the bedroom door and yelled at her 'I'll f***ing kill you ... if I'm going down it's going to be for murder'," police prosecutor Graeme Barron told the court.
