Vic man charged over senior's death

Victorian police have charged a 23-year-old man with the murder of a senior.

Raymond Parker, 75, was found at his home at Bayles, on Melbourne's southeastern outskirts, on January 13 after a friend went to check on him.

Police discovered his home had been ransacked and his wallet, credit cards, cash and a number of other items stolen.

On Sunday, homicide detectives charged Dean Brooks with one count of murder.

He has been remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrate's Court on Monday.
