Vic fatal siege gunman to be charged
A man is expected to be charged over a dramatic siege which has left a man dead in a Melbourne backyard.
The 39-year-old was arrested on Monday night following a long standoff with police, after another man was found shot dead in the backyard of a Brunswick property.
Officers negotiated with the man, who was holed up in a bungalow at the property, for about five hours before he was taken into custody early on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman said the alleged gunman would likely be charged later on Tuesday.
A woman who was also inside the bungalow is being questioned by police but is not under arrest.
Homicide squad detectives remain at the scene.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said three people were taken to hospital in a stable condition, with one woman treated for a cut on her hand.
