Vic launches Hanging Rock review

The future of picnics at Victoria's iconic Hanging Rock will be decided in a state government review.

The government is calling for public submissions to shape the future of the Hanging Rock precinct to protect the site and its natural beauty.

The rock was made world famous by the 1967 novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, which told the story of a group of schoolgirls who disappeared from the site in 1900. It was made into a movie by filmmaker Peter Weir in 1975.
